The TV anime series ” Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart” is scheduled to begin airing in 2026. The main staff and teaser trailer have been released, revealing that Mika Kanai will play the mascot character Fal. “Magical Girl Raising Project” is a media mix project based on the suspense battle novel (published by Takarajimasha) by Asari Endo, which has been in publication since 2012.
The previous TV anime series, “Magical Girl Raising Project” (12 episodes), aired in 2016 and depicted Snow White (voiced by Nao Toyama), who became a magical girl through the power of the social game “Magical Girl Raising Project,” and her friends as they took on a life-threatening survival game.
The title of the second season, “Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart,” is the same as the original novel’s volumes 2 and 3 (parts 1 and 2). Director Hiroyuki Hashimoto and series composition /scriptwriter Takao Yoshioka will reprise their roles from the first season. Character design will be handled by Masako Ito, who was responsible for SD character design in the first season, and animation production will be handled by SynergySP, the studio behind “Futari Solo Camp.”
The teaser trailer begins with the caption, “Approximately 10 years since the previous anime… a new ‘Raising Project’ begins.” It showcases new magical girls and introduces the main staff. Additionally, at “Animelo Summer Live 2025 ‘ThanXX!'” held at Saitama Super Arena from August 29th to 31st, Minori Chihara, who previously announced she would be performing the opening theme song “No tears here,” performed the music for the first time in the world.
The full comments from the staff and Chihara are as follows: [Hiroyuki Hashimoto (Director)] I’m Hiroyuki Hashimoto, and I’ll be continuing my role as animation director this time around. It’s been nearly 10 years since the original series aired, and I’m thrilled to be involved in another “Magical Girl Raising Project” anime. Just like the original, this series features a complex web of intertwined characters, so I hope you’ll look forward to seeing how that plays out in the anime. Adapting “Mahoiku” into an anime is always a challenge (laughs), but it’s still a rewarding project and incredibly fun to work on.
I hope you’ll enjoy the series. I’m thrilled to be working on “Magical Girl Raising Project” again. Working with Director Hashimoto again after the previous series is reassuring, and my work on series composition and scriptwriting has already been completed. This time, “restart” features a different setting from the previous work, and the introduction of new, fascinating characters will drive the story forward.
The mystery-infused plot is thrilling, and many aspects were difficult to visualize, but I sought a way to express them in an anime format. I’m sure the results of this challenge will be enjoyed by both fans of the original work and those experiencing it for the first time. Please look forward to the broadcast. [Masako Ito (Character Design)] I’ve been tasked with designing the characters for the animation of “Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart.”
This is my first time being entrusted with the role of character designer, so I’m incredibly nervous. I’ve been involved with “Mahoiku” since the original series (where I worked as an SD character designer), so it holds many fond memories for me, and I’m thrilled to be able to retake part. All of Maruino-sensei’s characters are charming and cute, so I did my best to recreate them accurately in the anime.
[Chihara Minori (Opening Theme Song)] Once again, congratulations on the TV anime adaptation of “Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart.” I played the role of Demon Lord Pam in the “Mahoiku” reading drama, and now I’ve been allowed to perform the opening theme song. The song is titled “No Tears Here.” Hata Aki wrote the lyrics, and Q-MHz handled the music and arrangement. I created the song by superimposing my current self onto the fighting and non-fighting magical girls. The song is already complete, but its release is still a little way off. I hope you’ll enjoy it along with the anime. I’m looking forward to that moment, along with everyone else.
