Visuals of the leaders of each “class” will be revealed over four consecutive weeks, with the first of these being a visual of Nihiruta You, the leader of the “program” that keeps watch on campus. A comment has also been received from Okamoto Nobuhiko, who plays Nihiruta.
Okamoto Nobuhiko joins the cast of “High School! Kimengumi. “High School! Kimengumi” is a slapstick comedy school comedy based on the manga by Shinzawa Motoei, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1980 as “3-Nen Kimengumi” and was renamed “High School! Kimengumi, as the characters progressed to higher education. It was a groundbreaking work at the time, and became a huge hit.
The story follows the exploits of the famous Kimengumi, a group of five members with unique and outrageous personalities: Ichidou Rei, Reikoshi Go, Idese Kiyoshi, Oma Jin, and Monohoshi Dai. The series was previously adapted into a TV anime from 1985 to 1987, sparking a huge popularity boom.
This new TV anime, set in the Reiwa era of 2026, will be directed by Kazuaki Seki, a versatile director whose work includes films like “Kakkaku Shikajika” and “Beethoven Fabrication,” as well as music videos for artists such as Perfume, Gen Hoshino, Fujii Kaze, and Vaundy.
The cast of the unique members of Kimengumi includes Tomokazu Seki as Ichidou Rei, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Reikoshi Go, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Idese Kiyoshi, Chiaki Kobayashi as Oma Jin, and Kikunosuke Toya as Monohoshi Dai. Additionally, it has been announced that Shiraishi Haruka will play the heroine Kawa Yui, a classmate of the protagonist, and Hasegawa Ikumi will play her best friend, Uruchie.
This film not only features the Kimengumi but also various other “groups” composed of unique characters. The first visuals of the leaders of each group have been unveiled: Nihiruta Yo, the leader of the tough delinquent group “Program.” He always hides his eyes behind his bangs and doesn’t wear a uniform, so he doesn’t follow school rules. He hates underhandedness and has a strong sense of justice. In the released visual, he is seen with his hands in his pockets.
Okamoto, who plays Nihiruta Yo, commented on his role: “Nihiruta Yo is a nihilistic man, just like his name suggests. However, while he’s nihilistic and cool, he also has a pitiful side. I’ll do my best to express that surreal quality of being cool yet uncool through my voice.”
