Overview: Released in 2022 as the sequel to “Avatar” (2009), which topped the all-time worldwide box office rankings (according to Box Office Mojo), “Avatar: Way of Water” is James Cameron’s epic sci-fi masterpiece, which ranked third on the same list. It was nominated for four awards at the 95th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won Best Visual Effects, creating buzz.

This terrestrial broadcast of the second installment in the series commemorates the release of the latest film, “Avatar: Fire and Ashes,” which will be released simultaneously in Japan and the US on Friday, December 19, 2025. The story follows the fierce battle on the mysterious planet Pandora, home of protagonist Jake, 10 years after the events of the previous film, “Avatar .” Jake, a former Marine who abandoned his human body to become a Na’vi, builds a family with his wife, Neytiri, in the forests of the mysterious planet Pandora.

His family includes the brilliant eldest son, Netheyam; the second son, Roak, who feels inferior to his older brother; the adopted daughter, Kiri, with mysterious powers; the innocent youngest son, Tuk; and the human boy, Spider. Peace finally arrived, but it was short-lived, as another invasion by Earthlings began, forcing Jake and his family to hide with a clan of sea creatures far away.

However, the enemy’s hand now looms over the paradise-like ocean, and a new battle begins that will test the strength of the bonds between family and friends.
