Manga Productions, a Saudi Arabian anime, manga, and game production and distribution company, announced on the 4th that it will be releasing packaged merchandise featuring characters from the Japanese-Saudi co-production “Asateer 2: Tales of the Future” with Toei Animation.

This was made possible through a licensing agreement with Masdar Al Hayat Food Industries, the food manufacturer behind “Fonte,” a national brand in the Arab region.

The merchandise will include a wide range of products, including bread, snacks, and sweets. “Asateer: Tales of the Future” is set in a near-future Saudi Arabia and tells the story of a young girl, Maha, and her family as they move to the floating city of Oxagon. As the title “Asateer,” which means “fairy tale” in Arabic, suggests, the story follows the protagonists as they learn from traditional Saudi Arabian folktales.

The series features several famous voice actors, including Masako Nozawa, and airs in Japan on TV Tokyo. It has been distributed across eight international platforms on five continents, garnering over 150 million views.

Manga Productions CEO, Isam Bukhari, commented on the partnership, “We are very pleased to have partnered with Masdar Al Hayat Food Industries, the developer of Fonte, a national brand with a strong presence in the Saudi Arabian market.”

The series is scheduled to begin sales in supermarkets in various Middle Eastern countries, primarily Saudi Arabia, starting this winter.
