The TV anime “The Apothecary Diaries” releases a new visual featuring seasonal plants on the 22nd of each month, known as “Neko Neko Day.” The December visual for the second chapter of “Traveling Through the Seasons with Neko Neko and Mitsuji” has been released, featuring a “Mikan x Neko Neko and Mitsuji” theme.

“The Apothecary Diaries” is a hugely popular harem mystery-solving entertainment series that has sold over 40 million copies. Set in the harem, the series follows a young girl who works as a poison taster and solves various complex cases.

The second season, which began airing in January 2025, consistently ranked highly on various streaming platforms. In the “ABEMA 2025 First Half Anime Rankings,” it ranked first in the overall anime view count ranking, the new anime view count ranking, and the anime view count ranking by age group (teens, 20s, and over 30s). Furthermore, it won the grand prize in the TikTok First Half Trend Awards 2025 and is beloved by people of all ages and genders. It is also popular overseas, where it took first place in the April 2025 rankings on Crunchroll, a North American anime streaming service, beating out numerous battle series.

On October 22nd, the second anniversary of its broadcast, the announcement of a third season of the anime and a movie sparked a huge buzz, with the topic trending on social media. The series “Traveling the Four Seasons with Nekoneko and Mitsuji” project, which began in July 2024, features a new visual themed around seasonal plants, released on the 22nd of each month, known as “Nekoneko Day.”

The project concluded in June 2025, completing a year, but due to popular demand, it is now entering its second chapter. The December visual features a mandarin orange theme. At the Ryokuseikan Pharmacy, Jinji is eating a mandarin orange, while Nekoneko is using the peel to make dried tangerine peel, a medicinal herb.

The atmosphere between the two suggests they have grown closer since they first met, making for a heartwarming visual. The official website is currently distributing wallpapers for PCs and smartphones using this visual, so be sure to check them out.
