by The TV anime “There Are No Gals Who Are Kind to Otaku!?” has been scheduled to air on TV Asahi and BS Asahi in 2026. A teaser visual and teaser PV have been released in conjunction with this.
The main cast, including Komura Masaru, Inagaki Yoshimi, and Serizawa Yu, as well as the main staff, including director Mita Arata, have also been announced, and their comments have arrived.
“Are There No Gals Who Are Kind to Otakus!?” is a romantic comedy based on the manga by Uozumi Sakana, initially written by Norishiro-chan and currently serialized in Monthly Comic Zenon, which has sold over one million copies. It follows the story of a geeky high school boy, Takuya Seo, who is drawn to two charming girls, the cool Kei Amane and the cheerful Kotoko Ijichi, through their hobbies, and their relationship deepens.
The broadcasting station has now been announced, along with a teaser visual and a teaser trailer showcasing the opening of this “school romantic comedy where the strongest gals pursue you.” It has also been revealed that Masaru Komura, Yoshimi Inagaki, and Yu Serizawa will be part of the main cast. Komura will play Takuya Seo, the geeky high school boy known as “Otaku-kun,” while Inagaki will play his classmate, Kei Amane, a cool gal who is one of the most beautiful in his grade. Serizawa will play Kotoko Ijichi, a cheerful gal with excellent communication skills, also in his class.
The trailer also features character voices, so be sure to check it out before it airs. Komura, Inagaki, and Serizawa also provided comments. The main cast was also announced, revealing that animation will be handled by TMS Entertainment/Studio 6 under the direction of Arata Mita. Kazuhiko Inukai will handle series composition, Rion Matsuda will be character designer/chief animation director, and Wataru Sato will be music composer. Comments were also received from director Mita, character designer/chief animation director Matsuda, and series composer Inukai.
Additionally, a preview screening titled “Are There No Gals Who Are Kind to Otaku!?” ~Otaku and Gal Advance Screening~” will be held at United Cinema Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo on March 15, 2026. The film will also be exhibited at the 76th Sapporo Snow Festival, held from February 4 to 11. Details for both will be announced at a later date, so please look forward to it.

Komura Masaru, voice of Seo Takuya: I’m Komura Masaru, and I’m excited to be playing Takuya Seo, also known as Otaku-kun! What kind of otaku are you? I’m sure everyone is an otaku in some way. I’m sure that’s true. That’s why there will be many moments where you can empathize with Seo-kun. I’m an otaku myself, so while I was playing the role, I thought, “This is almost me!” (laughs). Be sure to pay attention to the charming gals, who are the polar opposite of the otaku. Don’t miss out on seeing how these seemingly unrelated characters weave a page in their youth! Inagaki Yoshimi, voice of Amane Kei: I’m Inagaki Yoshimi, and I’ll be playing Amane Kei. While everyone is unique and full of contrasts, Amane in particular shows a wide range of emotions. She’s a cool but fun girl. I tried many different things to portray the charming Amane. I hope you pay attention not only to the otaku but also to the precious relationship between the two gals and to the way Amane Kei directs, which is only possible in anime. Be sure to tune in and find out if any gals are kind to otaku! Ijichi Kotoko (played by Serizawa Yu).
The words “otaku” and “gal” are sometimes used negatively. But this show has a deep understanding of both otaku and gals, and portrays them with care! This is an excellent work that will make you love and cherish every character. Kotoko is cute, kind to everyone, and a girl like the sun. You’ll definitely fall in love with her!

The characters are compassionate and kind, so I’m drawing them with the hope of bringing even a moment of healing to everyone. As this was my first time designing characters, I struggled to capture the cuteness the original author conveyed in the anime, but as I worked on the illustrations, I came to love them as if they were my own children.
