The 2026 winter anime season is finally upon us. While this season boasts a lineup of big titles like ” Jujutsu Kaisen,” “My Favorite Child,” “Medalist,” and “Funeral of Freiren,” the lineup of new anime is no less impressive. If you haven’t yet decided on your viewing plans, consider these three titles.

“Darwin Incident,” a Hot Topic from the 2022 Manga Awards. First up is “Darwin Incident” (by Shun Umezawa). Surrounded by popular titles like ” Look Back, ” “Chi. – About the Movement of the Earth, “Dandadan,” and “My Favorite Child,” this work won the 2022 Manga Awards. It garnered attention after being recommended by Akira Kawashima of the comedy duo Kirin on a TV program.

The story is set in a rural town in Missouri, USA. Charlie, a human-chimpanzee boy born to a human, is caught up in the chaos of the ALA, a terrorist organization dedicated to animal liberation. Through the existence of a different species, the story explores fundamental themes such as “what does it mean to be human?” It draws on a philosophical depth reminiscent of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s popular manga “Parasyte.”

The fact that Atsumi Tanezaki, known for her roles as Freiren in “Funeral of Freiren” and Anya in “SPY x FAMILY,” will play Charlie has also generated buzz, generating high expectations even before the show airs. “Would You Clean Me?”: Cleanse Your Clothes and Your Heart. While thrilling battle action is appealing, you’ll also want to check out an anime that gently comforts your weary soul. That’s why we recommend “Would You Clean Me?” This series is based on the manga of the same name by Mitsuru Hattori, known for “Sankarea.” Even after its 2023 conclusion, the series continues to enjoy enduring popularity, with spinoffs being published irregularly. The story centers on Kaname Watanaka (voiced by Suzushiro Sayumi ), who runs a small dry cleaning shop in the seaside town of Atami.

The heartwarming tale centers on her and her interactions with the people of Atami, occasionally offering dry-cleaning trivia and even featuring Kaname bathing. While the story is a serene, everyday experience, it also incorporates a mystery element: the heroine has lost her memory from more than two years ago.

The gradual unravelling of the mystery adds just the right amount of spice to the story. Watching this series, which combines Atami’s beautiful scenery, the soothing everyday life, and a subtle mystery, will leave you feeling refreshed, as if your clothes and your soul have been cleansed.

“Super Kaguyahime!”, a highly anticipated work from hit makers. Don’t just check out the winter anime on terrestrial TV. “Super Kaguyahime!”, available exclusively on Netflix from Thursday, January 22, 2026, is the feature-length directorial debut of Seigo Yamashita, a talented animator known for his work on opening credits for popular titles like “Jujutsu Kaisen” and “Chainsaw Man.”

The film is based on Japan’s oldest story, “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,” and is set in the virtual world of “Tsukuyomi.” It follows a group of girls, including the protagonist, Kaguya (voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi), as they deepen their bonds through song. The film’s songs will be performed by a stellar lineup of vocaloid producers, including ryo (supercell), creator of Hatsune Miku’s signature song “Melt,” as well as kz (livetune), 40mP, and HoneyWorks.

The teaser video showed a remix of “World is Mine,” and the official YouTube channel also released videos of each character singing along, so the music is attracting a lot of attention, and just like “ONE PIECE FILM RED,” there is a chance that the musical hook will attract attention both domestically and internationally.

Anticipation is building to see what kind of chemical reaction will occur between the beautiful visuals created by Yamashita and the music by these stellar creators. The correct pronunciation of the character “崎” in Tanezaki Atsumi’s name is “tatsusaki.
