Mieruko-chan, a horror-comedy manga about a girl who can see ghosts, is getting an anime in 2021. A teaser trailer, as well as two teaser visuals, were released.
The anime is directed by Yuki Ogawa (Ishuzoku Reviewers), with the series composition and script handled by Kenta Ihara (Shachibato! President, It’s Time for Battle!), the character designer and chief animation director roles filled by Chikashi Kadekaru (Scared Rider Xechs), and the ghosts designed by Unomakoto (Ishuzoku Reviewers character designer). Passione is in charge of the animation production.
The Kadokawa-published manga by Tomoki Izumi has four volumes as of September 2020, with the first volume released in 2019. Yen Press has released two English-translated books, with the third to come on June 22, 2021.
Yen Press describes the first volume as:
A normal girl was living an everyday life until she wasn’t.
One day, she could see everything. What’s a girl to do when hideous monsters appear no matter which way she turns?
And on top of that, nobody else can see them!
There’s only one thing that makes sense-ignore them.
It is kind of hard to put theory into practice, though, when
the ghosts know she’s watching.
