Producer Jo PD (PD Cho) said, “Korea’s entertainment industry will take a step forward through K-pop contents combined with future digital technology.”
JoPD is preparing to enter the global stage by combining experimental content with a new concept to the K-pop group project that it is producing.
The entertainment industry expects that Jo PD, who is known as a pioneer who tried music videos using computer graphics (CG) and animation in the domestic music industry, will soon introduce new and experimental K-pop content using VFX (visual special effects).
Since the late 1990s, when the word CG was unfamiliar, Jo PD is an experimental artist who has attracted attention by introducing music videos using creative design elements, CG, and animation to the domestic music industry and is known as a producer who tried new music video techniques every time.
The music video for ‘Sorrow’ from the first album ‘In Stardom,’ which was first released when Jo PD debuted in the music industry in 1999, was created in collaboration with a professor of animation at Rhode Island Design School (RISD), a prestigious design university in the United States. It drew attention for its experimental animated music video.
In addition, the music video for ‘Fever,’ a song from Jo PD’s 2nd album, which became the starting point of the hip-hop revival in Korea, drew attention with its unconventional CG using the performances of YG dancers. In 2005, he presented the music video for ‘My Style’ using fantastic illustrations and 3D graphics and was officially invited to MIDEM, the world’s largest music market, held in Cannes, France.
Based on his knowledge and experience of designing and marketing at Parsons School of Design, USA, he continuously grafted new techniques and aesthetic elements such as graphic design into music and video. ‘My Friend’ and ‘My Old Story’ won the domestic music video awards in a row.
When the entertainment and K-pop content market, which converges metaverse and NFT, is rapidly growing, JoPD is working hard to promote a new project by taking advantage of its experience and experimental style that took the lead in applying IT to music.
JoPD is aggressively acquiring and merging companies in production and content-related fields, mainly Choco Entertainment, and recruiting talents in technology and VFX video technology.
As it is necessary to establish a convergence model with various businesses in a wide range of fields, JoPD is constructing an ecosystem that prioritizes collaboration rather than a simple investment. It is putting its strength in promoting new projects, such as having heads of each field participate in an advisory group.
