The TV anime “Tsurikichi Sanpei,” based on the original work by Takao Yaguchi, has been released on Blu-ray for the first time by Best Field. All 109 episodes of the main story will be divided into two volumes, with the first volume to be released on December 22nd and the second to be released on January 31st, 2024.
This Blu-ray is delivered to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth of “Tsurikichi Sanpei.” Volume 1 contains episodes 1 to 53, and Volume 2 includes 54 to 109. Since the whereabouts of the film’s original version are unknown for episode 51, only the ending is recorded based on the existing SD material.
“Tsurikichi Sanpei” was serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine (Kodansha) for ten years starting in 1973 and became a monumental fishing manga. The story depicts Sanpei Sanpei, a boy who is a genius angler, and his passion for fishing, whether it be in the sea, rivers, or lakes. The TV anime was broadcast on Fuji Television from April 1980 to June 1982.
