A retrospective scene cut from episode 2 of ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ has been released: Tanjiro learns about Tomioka’s past.

A flashback scene from episode 2 of the new “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” anime series, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Pillar Training Arc,” entitled “The Pain of the Water Pillar, Tomioka Giyuu,” has been released.

The scene that was released shows Tanjiro learning about Tomioka’s past.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Pillar Training Arc” is an episode that spans volumes 15 and 16 of the original manga, and the story unfolds as Tanjiro and his friends receive training from the Pillars, the highest-ranking swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, to become even stronger.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is not just a series; it’s a cultural phenomenon. Based on the manga of the same name, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” from February 2016 to May 2020, this popular work has sold over 150 million copies worldwide, a testament to its widespread appeal and the passion of its fans.

Set in the Taisho era in a world inhabited by man-eating demons, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy whose family was killed by demons, who joins the Demon Slayer Corps and sets out on a journey to slay the monster that killed his family and turn his younger sister Nezuko, who has also become a demon, back into a human.

The first season of the TV anime was a roaring success, airing from April to September 2019 and becoming a social phenomenon. The movie “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train,” a sequel to the final episode of the anime, was released in October 2020 and shattered records, grossing over 40 billion yen in Japan. This unprecedented success sets the stage for the thrilling future of the series. 

The second season of the TV anime “The Entertainment District Arc,” which continues the movie, began airing in December 2021. The third season, “The Swordsmith Village Arc,” a continuation of the second season, began airing in April 2023.
