The opening theme for the TV anime “Gintama Maruchi Birth Anime 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi Sensei,” which will begin airing on TV Tokyo and other networks on October 6th, will be performed by Bocchi Boromaru, and the ending theme by LONGMAN.
“Gintama Maruchi Birth Anime 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi Sensei” is an anime based on the spin-off novel ” Gintama 3-Nen Z-Gumi Ginpachi Sensei ” by Tomohito Osaki, a spin-off of the manga “Gintama” by Hideaki Sorachi.
The setting shifts from Edo to a school where the characters of “Gintama” enjoy a slightly unusual youth. The opening theme, “Sakurakaze,” was written specifically for the anime by Bocchi Boromaru.
The song will be released on CD on November 12th, with a pre-release digital download available on October 14th. The ending theme, “Underclass HERO,” was written specifically for the anime by LONGMAN. The theme of the song is “a slightly sad after-school time,” and it’s a sad yet hopeful song. The latest anime trailers featuring each track have also been released on YouTube.
Bocchiboromaru’s comment: When I heard about the role of Ginpachi Sensei, it reminded me of my lonely school days, obsessed with Gintama. It’s comical and incredibly entertaining, yet full of conviction and offers life guidance. I remember vividly thinking that when I first read Gintama, it was my manga. I wanted to grow up to be like Gin-san, and at the time, I was practically Shinpachi.
I was in love with Kagura. I learned music from the cool, rock-inspired theme songs, writing from Sorachi Sensei’s Q&A, and love from Gorilla. Having spent my youth like that, I’ve safely become an adult like Elizabeth. I’m so glad. I’ve packed all those feelings into the song, so I hope you enjoy it!
LONGMAN’s comment: I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be performing “Underclass HERO,” the ending theme for “3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi Sensei.” I’m truly honored to be involved in this spin-off of the Gintama series, which continues to be loved worldwide.
The appeal of this work lies in its unique worldview, which is full of playfulness yet somehow touches the heart. For the ending theme, I imagined a “slightly sad after-school moment.” It evokes the quiet of a classroom as the sun sets, the lingering memories of days spent goofing around, and small steps toward tomorrow. It’s not just fun, but also the worries and pauses we’ve had, and I looked back on those days. Perhaps memories of school days seem all the more precious because we know we can never go back.
I aimed for a slightly sad yet hopeful sound, imbued with the image of Ginpachi-sensei, who seems endlessly carefree and unreliable, but is aarmer than anyone else. “We’ll go anywhere,” I hope these words will inspire hope that continues from that classroom into the future. I hope “Underclass HERO” will gently ring in your hearts like the after-school bell.
