On the 9th, box office information for the latest 28th film in the Detective Conan anime film series, Detective Conan: Afterimage of an Eye (released April 18th), was announced. In the 52 days since its release, it has attracted 9.46 million viewers and grossed over 13.7 billion yen (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha).

“Detective Conan: Afterimage of the One-Eyed” attracted 690,000 viewers and exceeded 1.05 billion yen in box office revenue on the first day of its release.

This is 109% higher than the previous film, “Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Five-Point Star” (630,000 viewers on the first day, 960 million yen in box office revenue), and started as a colossal hit that surpassed the previous film.

In recent years, the highest box office revenues in the series have continued to be updated, from “Detective Conan: The Black Iron Fish Shadow” (box office revenue of 13.88 billion yen, 2023) to “Detective Conan: The Million Dollar Five-Point Star” (box office revenue of 15.8 billion yen, 2024).

The timing of when “The Black Iron Fish Shadow” surpassed 10 billion yen in box office revenue was 10.3 billion yen in 24 days after its release, and “The Million Dollar Five-Point Star” surpassed 10.5 billion yen in 22 days after its release. However, this film achieved this 19 days after its release, three days earlier than the previous film, making it the fastest in the series to surpass 10 billion yen in box office revenue.

Meanwhile, Kogoro Mouri and Conan have arranged to meet a former colleague from the Metropolitan Police Department who is investigating an avalanche accident. Still, on the way to the meeting place, a gunshot rings out.

The story depicts the “sleeping memories” that connect the two men, a sleeping Kogoro and Yamato Gansuke of the Nagano Prefectural Police, who at first glance seem to have no connection.
