On the 28th, KADOKAWA released “Secondary Use Guidelines” for four new anime titles that began airing in July. These guidelines allow for the publication of clips, commentary, and analysis videos on YouTube for eligible works.
The four titles covered are “The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4,” “New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT,” “What’s with Detectives These Days?”, and “See You Tomorrow at the Food Court.” By following the guidelines, users can use up to four minutes of anime footage per episode (some content is two minutes) per YouTube post.
This system also allows for monetization. Those who wish to monetize on YouTube can use the MCN (multi-channel network) “CSP,” which distributes a portion of revenue to the production committee and then earns revenue. Currently, a wide range of YouTube channels, including VTubers, streamers, and other creators from Japan and abroad, as well as official anime and clip videos, are using CSP.
Over 600 channels are using CSP, with a cumulative total of over 60 million subscribers.
