Can’t wait for the anime remake in 2025?

Nowadays, many sequels and remakes of popular anime from the Showa and Heisei eras are being broadcast. The revival boom will continue in 2025, and nostalgic works that fans look forward to are scheduled to be broadcast in the future. How many details have been revealed about the popular works that were much talked about at the production announcement stage?

Most recently, “Shin Samurai Den YAIBA,” a remake of the manga “YAIBA” by Gosho Aoyama, who is famous for “Detective Conan,” is scheduled to be broadcast in April. The work was animated in 1993 under the title “Kenyuu Densetsu YAIBA,” but at the time, it was only drawn up in the middle of the original work. The remake version is said to be “fully animated,” and when it was announced, many people expressed their expectations, saying, “I want it to be done to the end” and “If it’s fully animated, it must be done to the end.” The show will be broadcast on Saturdays at 5:30 pm, 30 minutes before Conan, and will feature Aoyama’s work throughout the hour.

The voice actor for the main character, Kurogane Yaiba, will continue to be Takayama Minami, who was in the original anime version. The quality of the PV has also been well received, with viewers expressing their joy, saying, “I’m happy that the animation is based on Aoyama’s original drawings,” and “It’s so great to be able to watch it in a double feature with Conan.” Before the broadcast, a preview screening of episodes 1 to 3 will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 10 TOHO Cinemas nationwide. In addition, many fans have been looking forward to the remake of Hell Teacher Nube, which is scheduled to air in July.

The homeroom teacher, Nube, known as Nueno Meisuke, solves strange incidents around the children attending Domori Elementary School. The old anime aired 1996 was only on the air for one year, and the original manga was still being serialized, so the middle chapter, “Makuragaeshi no Maki,” was rearranged for the final episode. Anticipation is high that the original manga will be depicted until the end. When it was announced that Okiayu Ryutaro would continue to voice Nube from the old series, happy voices said, “I can’t imagine anyone other than Okiayu,” and “I’m so happy that he’s continuing in the role.”

There are also hopes that the other voice actors will continue from the 1996 version, with some saying, “There are a lot of veteran voice actors, but I hope they can somehow get the same person to do it.” According to the official website, additional cast members such as Class 5-3 students, Nube’s rival Tamamo, and the heroine Yukime will be revealed in a live broadcast on the anime-specialized YouTube channel “It’s Anime” from February 28.

Remakes are also scheduled to air in 2025, but details have not yet been revealed. Hojo Tsukasa’s popular work “Cat’s Eye” was first reported to be re-animated in November 2024, and it was announced that it would be exclusively distributed on the “Star” section of the video distribution service “Disney+” within 2025.

Along with the release of the teaser visual, it was also revealed that Ado will be singing the original theme, “Cat’s EYE.” The “Special Teaser Movie” has been praised for its “powerful and cool singing voice” and “respectful even though it is different from the original song.” However, there has been no further information on the content of the work. It will likely be broadcast in the year’s second half, but what will happen?
