The 10th installment of the “100 Anime Kaiju Scenes” project for the anime ” Kaiju No. 8,” based on the popular manga by Matsumoto Naoya that is currently being serialized on Shueisha’s manga app “Shonen Jump+,” has been released.
The project depicts scenes from everyday life not described in the main story, battles with monsters, and allows viewers to imagine “a world where monsters appear.” It shows Ajiro Mina, Shinomiya Kikoru, and Okonogi Konomi enjoying a cherry blossom viewing.
The visuals capture the individual personalities of each character, with Mina gazing up at a cherry blossom tree with tea in her hand, Kikoru smiling as she holds a sandwich, and Okonogi happily taking a photo.
“Kaiju No. 8” has been serialized in “Shonen Jump+” since July 2020. Set in Japan, a monster superpower where monsters mercilessly invade everyday life, the story follows the adventures of the protagonist, Hibino Kafka, whose body has been transformed into a beast by a mysterious creature. It also attracted attention in 2021 when it was selected as the grand prize winner in the web manga category of the “Next Manga Awards 2021.” The comic has sold over 18 million copies in Japan.
Production IG, which worked on the Ghost in the Shell series, will produce the anime, and Studio Khara, which worked on the Rebuild of Evangelion series, will be in charge of monster design and works.
