The synopsis and web trailer for the first episode of the TV anime “The Summer When Light Died,” which is set to air in July, have been released.
This work is based on the manga of the same name by Mokumoku Ren. It won first place in the men’s edition of “This Manga is Amazing! 2023” (Takarajimasha), and the total number of copies published in the series has exceeded 3 million.
Set in a rural village, this is a youth horror story that begins when a best friend is replaced by “something else.” The anime will be exclusively distributed worldwide on Netflix starting Saturday, July 5th, and will be available for free on ABEMA. Additionally, it will be broadcast on 30 stations nationwide affiliated with Nippon Television.

One hot summer day, Yoshiki discovers that his best friend, Hikaru, who has always laughed beside him, has become something else, though he sounds and looks just like Hikaru. Not wanting to lose the only person he could trust, who he had lived with since childhood in a suffocating, remote village, Yoshiki accepts the fake Hikaru and promises not to reveal anything to anyone.
