by It has been decided that the 7th season of the TV anime “Natsume’s Book of Friends” will be produced. The TV anime sequel will be the first in six years since 2017, when the sixth season was broadcast. Staff information has also been released, with Takahiro Omori as general director and Shuka in charge of animation production.
The work is based on the manga of the same name serialized in “LaLa,” and the main character is Takashi Natsume, a boy who has been able to see youkai since he was a child. A story about inheriting his grandmother Reiko’s legacy, “Book of Friends,” and spending days with the self-proclaimed bouncer Nyanko-sensei returning his name to the youkai bound there. It depicts Natsume protecting his precious days with the help of his friends through his interactions with the youkai and the people involved.
Since its first appearance in 2003, it has attracted many readers, and the first season of the TV anime began broadcasting in 2008. The 6th season was produced in 2017, making it a long series unlike any other late-night anime.
Also, in September 2018, the movie version with the first feature-length original episode of the series will be released. In January 2021, two fan-favorite short episodes were shown in limited theaters.
From today, July 1st, the animation “Natsume’s Book of Friends” has entered its 15th anniversary, and commemorative visuals and videos have been released. The production of the 7th season was announced in the video featuring Hiroshi Kamiya, who plays Natsume, and Kazuhiko Inoue, who plays Nyanko-sensei.
