This project is where regular writers from Real Sound’s Film Department will announce their best picks for 2024 daily until the end of the year. The list will be divided into four categories: movies, domestic dramas, foreign dramas, and anime. For anime, the writers will select 10 works from their unique perspective from animations released in theaters, broadcast, or streamed in Japan in 2024.

The judge for the 15th edition is anime critic Fujitsu Ryota. (Editorial Department) and “The Little Citizen Series” Episode 10, “Sweet Memory (Part 2)”; “Stepsister Life” Episode 12, “To”; “Too Many Losing Heroines! “When you look at the losing heroine, the losing heroine is also looking at you” “My Dangerous Girlfriend” karte18 “Yamada Loves Me” “Mayonaka Punch” Episode 12 “The Last Live Stream” “Negapozi Angler” Episode 8 “Parent-child relationships, children’s growth” “Girls Band Cry” Episode 8 “If You Cry” “Sound! Euphonium 3” Episode 12 “The Last Soloist” “Dandadan” Episode 7 “Towards a Gentle World” “ONE PIECE FAN LETTER” In no particular order, A variety of animated films will be released in Japan and abroad in 2024.

The top 10 list seems to be filled with just those, so like last year, we have selected the most memorable episodes from the TV series. It is the same idea as the annual end-of-year project “Top 10 TV Anime Selected by Episode Number” that anime fans conduct online. Please note that the order is not set, so please do not misunderstand—first, four works whose direction left me speechless. Episode 10 of the “Little Man” series concerns a coffee shop conversation scene.

The combination of limited camera positions and image scenes maintained a high level of tension, and I couldn’t take my eyes off it. “Stepsister Life” also created a unique world by focusing on fixed shots and always using the same camera position indoors.

In episode 12, the camera crosses the imaginary line when the hero and heroine finally embrace each other. This instantly reverses the relationship of “hugging/holding,” beautifully visualizing the two characters’ feelings. Too Many Losing Heroines!” ‘s basic design of “basically the characters are backlit” effectively visualizes the characters’ positions.

The old school building’s stairs, a shaded space, often appear, but in episode 4, the rooftop appears. A scene was created in which the two characters, who are usually backlit, are rarely in front of the camera as the camera cuts back, and this meshed perfectly with the drama and was impressive.

In “My Dangerous Wife” (season 2), the drama was made more exciting by its thoroughness in depicting a love story that revolves around gazes. Karte18 focused on the events at the graduation ceremony, carefully describing the two main characters meeting each other’s gazes in a front-facing cut at the end.
