The ” Shrek ” series ended with the fourth installment, ” Shrek Forever,” released in 2010, but it seems that a new work will be produced.
DreamWorks Animation, the creator of the Shrek series, was acquired by Comcast in 2016. Since then, Chris Meledandri, CEO of Comcast’s animation production company Illumination, has been a creative partner.
Meledandri, who is about to release Illumination’s latest work, ” The Super Mario Bros. Movie, “recently revealed that “Shrek 5 (tentative title)” is in preparation in an interview with US Variety.
” Like the process, I went through with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, I would like to consider what the core elements are that the audience loved and do my best to respect those core elements,” said Meredantri. He has revealed that he is talking to signing original voice actors, including Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas.
