Southeast Asia’s largest anime event kicks off in Singapore, featuring Sakurazaka46 and many other Japanese artists

AFA Singapore 2025, Southeast Asia’s largest Japanese pop culture event, will run for three days, starting today, Friday, November 28th, at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. (Local News)

This event, held annually in November, is the Singaporean version of Anime Festival Asia (AFA), which has been held in Indonesia, Malaysia, and other parts of Southeast Asia since 2008. It showcases the appeal of a wide range of content, including anime, manga, games, music, and cosplay, to local fans.

The main exhibition hall features booths from major anime-related companies, including TOHO animation, Crunchyroll (a video streaming service), and KADOKAWA, as well as figure and merchandise manufacturers such as Kotobukiya. Additionally, cosplayers’ circle-scale sales and photo sessions are held throughout the event, creating a lively atmosphere alongside merchandise sales.

Several stage events are planned to coincide with the exhibition, including an appearance by Sakurazaka46 on the “I Love Anisong” concert stage today, the 28th. Other popular anime song singers and artists scheduled to appear the following day include fhána, Shouta Aoi, Yoko Takahashi, ClariS, and Wednesday Campanella.

Additionally, the “DAY STAGE” will feature appearances by popular Japanese voice actors, including Kana Ichinose and Chiaki Kobayashi from “Funeral of Freiren,” Akari Kito from “Chibi Godzilla Raids Again,” Shinba Tsuchiya from “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX,” and Kana Ichinose and Sayumi Suzushiro from “The Apothecary Diaries,” making for a packed venue for music and anime fans alike.
