It has been decided that the second season of the TV anime “Skip and Loafer” will be produced as a sequel to the anime, which will be broadcast in 2023. Along with the production announcement, a congratulatory illustration by Misaki Takamatsu has also arrived.
This work is an anime based on Misaki Takamatsu’s manga, which is of the same name, serialized in “Monthly Afternoon” (published by Kodansha). It was broadcast in the spring of 2023 as a school-life comedy about the protagonist Mitsumi, who entered a high-ranking high school in Tokyo from a small junior high school in the countryside as the top student and her classmates.
It has been highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally. It won the top spot in the overall ranking of spring-season works on the anime review service Filmarks and received a work rating of “9.9/10” on Bilibili Video Overseas. This summer, it won the “Overseas Anime Award” at the International Anime Awards.
When the Noto Peninsula earthquake occurred in the Noto region on January 1 this year, a free charity distribution of this work was also carried out as a reconstruction effort. All 12 episodes were premiered on YouTube, and all streaming revenue was donated to Ishikawa Prefecture. The series will also be rebroadcast on NHK. It will be aired every Sunday from 5:00 p.m. starting January 5, 2025.
