The new work ‘DAIMA’ recalls the ‘Dragon Ball’ demon world episode, a battle depicted in an original anime.

Will there be a reunion in ” Dragon Ball DAIMA “? The new anime “Dragon Ball DAIMA” is set in the Great Demon Realm, but do any fans remember that in an original episode of the Dragon Ball anime, Son Goku (voiced by Masako Nozawa) once visited the Demon Realm?

Goku is on a journey to train for the Tenkaichi Budokai tournament that will be held three years from now. On the way, Goku arrives at a castle where a monster has kidnapped the princess, and at the foot of the castle is a village called the Demon Village. Near the town is a gate to the demon world, and Shura (voiced by Toshio Furukawa), a master of demon world martial arts, stabbed his sword into the door to prevent it from closing, allowing the monsters to enter and exit freely.

The villagers, afraid of monsters, recognize Goku’s strength, and he is taken to the king’s castle. Goku, who wants to fight strong people, rescues the princess “on the way” after fighting Shura.

Goku, who entered the Demon Realm alone through the Gate of the Demon Realm, was liked by the Demon Realm’s gatekeeper, Mera (CV: Masako Katsuki), who agreed to guide him to Shura. At that time, Shura was in the middle of a wedding entertainment with the princess he had kidnapped, and a martial arts tournament was about to be held. Goku barged in and ended up fighting Shura as he had wished.

The battle between Goku and Shura was a back-and-forth affair. Still, when Goku unleashed a Kamehameha that blinded Shura for a moment, Goku launched a barrage of blows at him, sending him flying, and with Mera’s help, he picked up the princess. He dashed to the door to the Demon Realm, successfully rescuing her.

As they left, Goku asked Mera, “Why are you so kind to me?” Mera laughed and said, “I just have my circumstances,” without saying much, but continued with a meaningful line, “We’ll meet someday, but it would be a problem if it happened too soon.” It seemed like a hint, but after Goku pulled out Shura’s sword, the gate to the Demon Realm never opened again, and Mera had not been reunited with him until now.

I don’t know how many fans remember this original episode, but I’m hoping that after several decades, there will be a scene in “Dragon Ball Daima” where Goku and Mera meet again… If the two meet again, it will surely be the biggest plot twist in Dragon Ball’s history!

The TV anime series Dragon Ball, which aired from 1986 to 1989, was based on the manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) for about 11 years from 1984 to 1995 and sold a total of over 260 million copies worldwide. Since then, it has been included in several anime series, including Z, GT, Kai, and Super. It has also had over 20 theatrical releases, making it a huge hit that has also been adapted into numerous game series.

In 2024, marking the 40th anniversary, a completely new anime series called Dragon Ball Daima, with an original story, story, and character design by the late Akira Toriyama, will begin airing on October 11th.
