From February 5th to February 11th, the Netorabo Survey Team conducted a questionnaire asking, “What is your favorite robot anime directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino other than Gundam?”
Voting targets are nine robot animations other than Gundam directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino. In this survey, we received a total of 2986 votes. Thank you for your many votes!
Legendary Giant Ideon
The third place is “Legendary Giant Ideon.” The number of votes obtained is 462. Since 1980, all 39 episodes of TV animation have been broadcast, and the movie version was later released. A battle between the earthlings such as Yuki Cosmo, who got into the vast robot “Ideon” where the power of the legendary infinite energy “Ide” dwells, and the alien “Buff Clan” who relentlessly aims for the management of Ide, is depicted that we are entering a space-scale full-scale war involving all humankind.
Heavy Metal L-Gaim
The second place is “Heavy Metal L-Gaim,” with 471 votes. It is a TV animation that has broadcast all 54 episodes since 1984. Set in the Pentagon World, the story of Daba Myriad, the surviving royal family of the Yarman tribe, is involved in a battle with the Poseidal army. The heavy metal “L-Gaim” designed by Mamoru Nagano has won many fans with its stylishness and innovative settings that were not found in robot anime at the time.
Aura Battler Dunbine
The first place was “Aura Battler Dunbine,” with 781 votes. A TV anime broadcast from 1983 has a solid fantasy-style set in a different world like medieval Europe “Boston Well,” which is different from the existing robot animation that was mostly SF style. It is a feature. Sho Zama, the hero of the earthlings, summoned to another world, rides on the aura battler “Dumbing” and fights through a big war.
