On October 22, 2025, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the 1930s anime-style FPS “MOUSE: PI For Hire” announced that the game’s release date had been changed from 2025 to early 2026.

The “That Mouse”-style monochrome anime FPS release has been postponed to early 2026. “MOUSE: The Hired Detective” is an FPS inspired by the black-and-white, hand-drawn animation of the 1930s. Characters reminiscent of American animation from that era roam the game’s confines. Weapons include not only guns, but also water cannons, bombs, and even melee and magic wand combat, incorporating a variety of cartoon-style effects. According to the official X account, the game’s release date was initially scheduled to be announced at the Galaxies Gaming Showcase on October 23. However, before that, they announced a change in the release date, shifting from 2025 to early 2026. The announcement did not specifically mention rights issues, so it doesn’t appear that rights issues are the cause of the delay.

The statement stated, “Our top priority is delivering the best possible experience,” so we can look forward to further improvements in quality. MOUSE: The Hired Detective is scheduled to be released in early 2026 for PC (Steam), PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The release date has been postponed from 2025 to early 2026.
