“The Witch of Champignons” is a work by Tachibana Higuchi, whose representative work is “Alice Academy.” It has been serialized in Hakusensha’s “Manga Park” since 2019.
The main character, Luna, is a witch with a unique constitution in which poisonous mushrooms often grow wherever she touches or walks, and her breath and skin are mixed with poison. People call her the “Witch of Champignons” and fear her, but Luna lives a quiet life with a longing for a human life in her heart.
“The Witch of Champignons” is a magical fantasy of love, adventure, and emotion woven by the lonely and kind-hearted black witch Luna, who does not know the warmth of such people, and the people around her. When the decision to adapt it into a TV anime was announced, it became a hot topic, mainly on social media; however, further information has since been released. It is scheduled to start broadcasting on TBS and other stations from January 2026.
A teaser visual was also released, depicting the main character, Luna, lying down deep in the black forest and looking up at the sky. It is an impressive illustration that effectively introduces the work and its title, “Mushroom Witch.” In addition, the teaser PV released at the same time also revealed the anime footage of the work for the first time.
