A teaser visual, trailer, and a new remix of “World is Mine” have been released for the original anime “Super Kaguyahime!”, which is Yamashita Seigo’s first feature-length directorial work.

This is the feature-length directorial debut of animation creator Yamashita Seigo, who has left a lasting impression on anime fans worldwide with his work directing the opening videos for numerous popular anime, including the first season of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Chainsaw Man,” and “Urusei Yatsura.”

The music for this film is provided by a stellar lineup of Vocaloid producers, including ryo (Supercell), who shocked the music world with the hit “Melt” featuring the Vocaloid “Hatsune Miku,” as well as kz (Livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot. Yamashita’s signature style, combining emotive visuals that perfectly align with the storyline with powerful 3D camerawork, creates a stunning depiction of the live stage in the virtual world of ” Tsukuyomi,” filled with dreams and hope, and the bond between the girls connected by song.

The animation is produced by Studio Colorido, known for its charming characters and dynamic visual direction in works such as “Penguin Highway” and “I Want to Eat Your Pancreas,” and Studio Chromat, led by director Seigo Yamashita, marking the studio’s first project.

The character designs were handled by Hechima, who co-created the original characters for “School Idolmaster,” and Nagae Akihiro, who served as character designer and chief animation director for “The Drifting Apartment Complex: A Message of Rain.”

The newly released teaser visual depicts the protagonist, Kaguya, bowing gracefully with her hands clasped, sporting a somewhat mischievous smile. Kaguya’s kimono and the surrounding torii gates and lanterns create a Japanese atmosphere, while she is seated on a “modern live stage” dazzling with countless glowing penlights. The new worldview, blending the past and present, is striking. The catchphrase, evocative of the ending of the classic “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter,” is also intriguing.

A “music live” is a form of modern entertainment, and “Princess Kaguya,” born over a thousand years ago, is exciting to see what kind of stage this unusual combination will create. A teaser trailer has also been released. After a background music of shamisen and other traditional Japanese instruments, Tsukimi Yachiyo (voiced by Hayami Saori) takes a breath and begins singing. She sings “World is Mine CPK! Remix,” a newly remixed version of the popular Vocaloid song released in 2008, with a lovely voice.

The expressions of the three main characters, Kaguya (voiced by Natsuyoshi Yuko ), Sakyo Saiha (voiced by Nagase Anna ), and Tsukimi Yachiyo (voiced by Hayami Saori), are also captivating. Anticipation is building for further details on how Japan’s oldest story will be reborn on the live stage. Three more main characters have also been announced: Kaguya will be played by Natsuyoshi Yuko, Sakyo Saiha by Nagase Anna, and Tsukimi Yachiyo by Hayami Saori.

The anime “Super Kaguyahime!” will be available worldwide exclusively on Netflix starting January 22, 2026. *Full comments from director Seigo Yamashita, the cast, and the artists providing the music for the film are below.
