Spread the love

This time, from the popular robot anime “Armored Trooper Votoms,” we will introduce an example of the scope dock type custom AT “Death Messenger” that appears in the Gaiden novel “Blue Knight Belzerga Monogatari” series by Masanori Hama. The plastic model “1/35 IJ ATM-09-STCBS Death Messenger” on sale from Volks is used. Speaking of “bottoms,” it is characterized by producing a battlefield that is “This time, I would like to express the world view with a unique weathering finish.

Custom AT operated by the plague god Radolf Discoma that tells death

The “1/35 IJ ATM-09-STCBS Death Messenger” produced this time is a scope dock type custom AT that appears in the official Gaiden novel “Blue Knight Belzerga Monogatari” of Armored Trooper Votoms. The opponent who played against this AT will be an AT called “Death Messenger” because he will be asked to play against the mysterious black AT “Shadow Flare” and die later.

The pilot is Radolf Discoma, a former Red Shoulder member, and features heavy equipment consisting of a bold body with a low center of gravity, a mission pack, and a rifle, with a coloring that dyes the right shoulder red.

‘1/35 IJ ATM-09-STCBS Death Messenger’ as a Volks injection kit

This kit is a plastic model released on February 23, 2019, as the 5th volume of Volks injection-plastic kit 1/35 scale. Although it is a small scale 1/35 scale, it has a structure that does not impair the amount of information, and by providing a movable mechanism in the mission pack, it is possible to decide the landing pose while wearing it. It is a finish with high play value. I am.

There are six molding colors, and the color scheme is close to the setting just by assembling. In addition, the first production limited edition comes with metal parts that can improve the details of the antenna and lens parts and etched parts that can be improved by just pasting.

Produce a death messenger with unique weathering

Let’s make a death messenger. First of all, we will temporarily assemble to confirm the identity of the kit.

When the temporary assembly is completed, disassemble it once to make it easier to paint, and attach the metal parts and etching parts that benefit the first production. This kit comes with metal parts for head parts and etched parts for skirt parts. Let’s start with the metal parts.

When the processing is completed, we will start painting. This time, we will use the silicone barrier coating introduced earlier.

First of all, we will paint the metal parts and the etched parts as a base. I used Finishers’ multi-primer for the base. After the base painting is completed, we will paint the base color. This time, we will use Gaia Notes Surfacer EVO Oxide Red as the base color for weathering. Since this surfacer has the same color tone as the rust preventive paint of industrial products, it is possible to create a more realistic atmosphere by using it as the base color of the silicone barrier paint.

After painting the base color is completed, coat it with a silicone barrier and paint the finish color. First, paint the joints and weapon parts with Gaia Notes’ Dougram color gray violet.

Next, we will paint the armor part. The armor will be painted with Gaia Notes bottoms green and light green.

Next, we will paint the characteristic red shoulder parts. For the shoulder parts, we will use Gaia Notes’ “Bottoms Color Blood Red.”

Next, we will paint the sensor parts. Sensor parts will be painted with Gaia Notes’ “Bottoms Color White Gray.”

We will paint the scope parts as the final airbrush painting. The scope parts were painted with Gaia Notes Ex Silver.

After the painting is completed, I will paint with another color. Usually, masking is done, and airbrush painting is done, but the silicone barrier is applied this time, so masking tape cannot be applied. Therefore, we will paint separately with a brush.

After the painting is completed, we will assemble the kit once in preparation for removing the paint film.

When the assembly is completed, let’s peel off the paint film with a toothpick. Peel off the paint film, being careful not to make it regular around the edges of the kit.

After the paint film has been peeled off, wash it. However, since the surface needs to be frosted before washing, the surface should be frosted using Creos’s “Mr. Super Clear UV Cut Matte.” Washing is started when the matte finish is completed. This time, we will use Creos’s “Mr. Weathering Color Grand Brown” for washing.

After the washing is completed, the next step is to do a pin wash to express the oil pool. Similar to the previous article on mass-produced Zaku, this pin wash will use Gaia Notes’ Gaia enamel color oil to express the oil pool.

Next, we will do sponge chipping to express rust. Sponge chipping is a technique to draw a random pattern by soaking a sponge that has been torn off with paint and stamping it. This time, we will perform sponge chipping using two colors of Gaia Notes Gaia Enamel Color Red Rust and Yellow Rust.

If you come to this point, you will rest to finish. Finally, I will draw the exposed metal part. Paint Tamiya’s enamel chrome silver with a toothpick for the exposed metal part.

This completes all the work. Let’s take a look at the completed Death Messenger.

The missile pod is painted with a lot of rust because it is thought that the paint will peel off most on the outer surface side.

What do you think? The weathering has made it a realistic and profound feeling that you can’t think of as a model. Weathering is a recommended expression technique because it is relatively tricky among model techniques. Please give it a try.
