The protagonist’s powers go out of control, and he commits outrageous acts against a former idol!

The robot anime genre has so many works that it is difficult to sum it up in one word. For example, in 2024 alone, completely different types of works appeared, such as “Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM” and “Code Geass: Rose of the Recapture,” which depicted the coolness of robot anime straightforwardly, and “Yuki Bakuhatsu Burn Brave Burn,” which pleasantly surprised viewers with the somewhat eccentric personalities of its characters. In the past, some works seemed like orthodox science fiction anime but became a hot topic because of the unexpected developments that awaited them.

“Valvrave the Liberator” “Valvrave the Liberator,” which aired in 2013, is known for its serious yet often poking fun at the protagonist, and the actions of the out-of-control protagonist in particular caused a stir among viewers. The story is set in a world where most of humanity has migrated to space, where the two major superpowers, the Dorssia Military Pact Federation and the Atlantic Rim United States (ARUS), conflict.

The protagonist, Tokushima Haruto (CV: Osaka Ryota), attends Sakimori Academy, which is peaceful because it is located in the neutral country of Geol, but the Dorssia Army suddenly attacks it. Haruto’s crush, Shinan Shoko (CV: Seto Asami), is also caught up in the attack. Believing that Shoko is dead, Haruto challenges the Dorssia Army to a fight in the Valvrave, which he happens to pilot.

However, piloting the Valvrave has a side effect, and Haruto gives up his human identity and becomes a vampire-like being called a Magius. Having been forced to fight by piloting the Valvrave, Haruto begins to suffer from the rampage of his powers. When Haruto can no longer control his powers due to repeated rampages, he tears off the clothes of a female student, former idol Saki Nagakino (CV: Haruka Tomatsu ), and has a physical relationship with her. Some viewers watched this scene with their families during the broadcast and experienced an awkward atmosphere.

Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon Broadcast in 2014, Cross Ange: Rondo of Angel and Dragon was a work that riveted viewers with its sex appeal and parody scenes. In the story’s setting, many humans can use a ” Mana ” ability to transmit information and manipulate matter.

However, when a woman unsuitable for Mana is born due to a mutation, she is despised as a “Norma” and isolated from the Mana-supreme society. The main character, Angelise Ikaruga Misurugi (CV: Nana Mizuki), is also supposed to be able to use Mana as the first princess of the Misurugi Empire, but at a memorable event, it is revealed that she is a Norma. After being taken prisoner and sent to the military facility “Arzenal,” Angeliese is stripped of her title and name and forced to live as “Ange.” At the end of episode 1, Ange is stripped of her clothes and given a “physical examination” by the commander-in-chief of Arzenal.

The scene fades out with Ange screaming, and then she is shown lying naked and crying afterward. Arzenal, where Ange is, is also a base for fighting against “dragons” that attack from across dimensions using humanoid weapons called “paramails.” There, Ange is given the paramail “Villkiss” and is forced to fight. In the beginning, Ange acts selfishly in the battle, causing casualties, and is isolated and bullied by her comrades for her usual proud actions and remarks. However, thanks to the presence of people who understand her and Ange’s determination, she gradually becomes friendly with her comrades with whom she had been fighting.

In the beginning, many complex scenes make you want to look away, such as the shocking scene at the end of the first episode and the betrayal of one’s hometown. However, as it gets closer to the end, the atmosphere changes and the number of light-hearted scenes increases, so you might mistake it for a different work.
