Cillian Murphy, star of Oppenheimer, could portray the antagonist in Far Cry 7.
As per leaker j0nathan, who has previously been successful in leaking Ubisoft information, including precise reports of Assassin’s Creed Mirage prior to its release, Cillian Murphy may be emulating Michael Mando from Better Call Saul and Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad by playing the main antagonist in the open-world adventure game.
Jonathan tweeted a picture of Murphy together with dynamite that had a countdown of 72 hours, a crab, and the number “7” in a mysterious tweet that was posted to the Gaming Leaks and Rumours forum.
Jonathan uttered the words “If nothing changes by then” in French beside the pictures.
The first rumors of Far Cry 7, codenamed Project Blackbird, date back to September 2023. They state that the game’s “non-linear” plot, which revolves around the protagonist’s family being kidnapped, takes place over 72 in-game hours, or 24 hours in real time.
Fans instantly speculated that Jonathan’s tweet related to the upcoming Far Cry installment because of the number “7” and the 72-hour countdown.
All we can do for the time being is classify this as a rumor since Ubisoft hasn’t even officially confirmed that Far Cry 7 is in the works, let alone revealed the cast. This is especially true given that Jonathan merely said, “It’s heating up,” in response to a question about whether Cillian Murphy would play the lead villain in the game. Thus, take that as you will.
