The ‘2021 World K-Pop Concert (Korean Culture Festival)’ (in the future the World K-Pop Concert) held at KINTEX, Ilsan for two days on the 13th and 14th, ended in great success amid the enthusiastic cheers of many domestic and foreign Korean wave culture fans.
This event, held jointly by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Hwang Hee, in the future, referred to as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the Korea International Cultural Exchange Agency (Director Gil Hwa Jung, in the future, referred to as the Promotion Agency), is the first large-scale face-to-face event held at the government level after the gradual recovery of daily life began in earnest. received
This event was held with particular attention to quarantine, such as introducing the ‘Vaccine Pass’ and ‘People Counting’ system.
Admission to the event was only possible for visitors who received an adverse confirmation letter or a negative confirmation text message within two weeks after the second vaccination or 48 hours after the PCR test.
In the case of the World K-Pop Concert (Bright 4 U Concert) held on the 14th, more strengthened quarantine procedures were applied. Visitors were required to wear the provided plastic gloves when entering, and at all times, seats were placed in compliance with the distancing guidelines.
In addition, shouting and singing in groups during the performance were strictly prohibited, and safety was the top priority, such as restricted movement between seats.
As such, the World K-Pop Concert, which was held with full attention to quarantine, was attended by about 2.63 million Korean Wave fans worldwide, adding more meaning to the festival.
In particular, on this day, about 3,000 spectators watched the heat of the Hallyu artist stage, and 150,000 people from all over the world simultaneously logged in and enjoyed the festival through live broadcasting through the promotion agency’s own YouTube channel.
NCT Dream, SHINee Key, Espa, Itzy, Pentagon, Simon Dominic, Loco, Brave Girls, and American pop star Kelani appeared.
On this day, Minister Hwang Hee delivered a greeting by participating as a French Korean Wave fan and a local LAN audience.
SHINee’s Key, who decorated the finale stage, said, “The appearance of the concert hall without shouts is a bit awkward, but I hope that this performance will increase the opportunity for popular music singers to stand on the stage in the era of With Corona.”
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Promotion Agency specially invited medical staff and public personnel who worked hard to overcome COVID-19, culturally underprivileged groups, multicultural families, and foreigners living in Korea, to deliver a message of hope for overcoming COVID-19 through this performance.

On the other hand, as a post-production program of the World K-Pop Concert, the Korea Development Institute plans to hold ‘The History of K-POP, and Future Insight’ non-face-to-face on the 30th (Tuesday).
The conference, which is held on the theme of K-pop and pop music culture policy, will be streamed live on the official YouTube channel of the Korean Culture Festival on the day of the event.
