The second part of the two-part film series, Given: To the Sea, concludes the Given anime series and will be released on September 20, 2024. Twelve new stills from the film have been unveiled. Information on releasing original theater goods and the stage sequel to Given in May 2025 has also been announced.
Given is a youth band story based on a BL comic by Kizu Natsuki that began serialization in the 2013 Haru issue of Cheri+. It depicts the youth of the rock band members, starting with the meeting of Sato Mafuyu, who has an impressive singing voice, and Uenoyama Ritsuka, who has guitar skills beyond those of a high school student.
The TV anime was broadcast in 2019 as the first BL comic to be animated in Noitamina, and Given the Movie was released the following year, in 2020. The sequel, a two-part film series, was released in January 2024, with the first part, “Given: Hiiragi Mix,” focusing on the story of Mafuyu’s childhood friends, Kashima Hiiragi and Yagi Genjun. The film ranked first in Filmarks’ “Opening Day Satisfaction Ranking,” the term “Okawari Given” appeared on social media, attracting many repeat viewers. It swept fans into a frenzy.
This time, 12 new stills featuring Mafuyu and Ritsuka were unveiled from “Given: To the Sea,” the second part of the two-part film series and the series finale. The images include Mafuyu, confused by his various feelings for Ritsuka and his feelings for music, and Ritsuka singing, a hot topic in the official trailer the other day. In addition, you can see Mafuyu and Yuki walking along the coast. Yuki’s presence, depicted again in this film, will likely attract attention.
In addition, it has been decided that original theater goods will be released on September 20 to coincide with the theatrical release of this film. The lineup includes pamphlets, transparent files, acrylic stands of Mafuyu, Rikka, Haruki, Akihiko, Hiiragi, Gensumi, and Ugetsu, and postcard sets. Be sure to pick one up at the theater when you see the show.
In addition, it was revealed that a stage play, “Given: To the Sea,” will be performed as a sequel to the play “Given,” which was conducted in Tokyo and Kyoto in November 2021. It is scheduled to be performed in May 2025, so we look forward to hearing more about this. The second part of the two-part film series, “Given: To the Sea,” concludes the anime “Given” series, which will be released on September 20.
