Greek director Christos Nyk’s first English-language feature, Fingernails, will star Luke Wilson and Annie Murphy.
The Apple original movie has already been announced to star Jesse Buckley, Riz Ahmed, and Jeremy Allen White (“Shameless”) and produced by Dirty Films, the production company of Cate Blanchett, who was the executive producer of Niku’s “Apples and Polaroids” (2020), which was selected to represent Greece at the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, and Film Nation Entertainment.
Written by Niku with British playwright Sam Steiner and Apples and Polaroid co-writer Stavros Laptis, Fingernails is set in a world where a test exists to determine if a couple is genuinely in love. Ana (Buckley), a mysterious instructor at a lab conducting tests, returns with a positive result on her love test with her longtime partner but remains distrustful of her. ), it is a sci-fi love story. According to Deadline, Wilson will play the head of the lab, while Murphy will play Amir’s lover.
Wilson recently wrapped up his new western, Horizon, directed by and starring Kevin Costner. In addition, Murphy, who won an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress for “Sitt’s Creek,” will voice her lead role in her new animated series, “Praise Petey.”
