“Kimetsu no Yaiba” animation 2nd season, Yukaku edition, finally reaches the final episode. The “Yukaku Oni” that Sound Hashira Tengen and his friends dealt with was a more potent enemy than I had imagined. Although there are two, the Yukaku demon is the lowest “Roku” among the first-string monsters. Umeda, who was forced to struggle with it, was once whispered, “Isn’t it weak?” However, as is clear from the 10th episode of the anime, Umeda Tengen is quite strong. Here, we will reconsider the unique “strength” of Umeda.
The reason why Umeda was said to be “weak.”
According to the official fan book “Devil’s Blade Demon Killing Corps Observation Record” (Shueisha), Umeda is 198 cm and 95 kg. He has a heavenly body next to the 220 cm and 130 kg of rock pillars and screams. His large sun sword is chained and can be manipulated using centrifugal force, so it’s apparent that he needs a lot of strength. Taro Kaoru is amazed at its power.
Despite this, why is Umeda considered “weak” by some?
One of the significant factors is comparing the flame pillar, Purgatory Anjuro, in the previous series, “Infinite Train Edition.” Purgatory succeeded in defeating “Ichi of the lower string” and protecting “200 passengers of the infinite train” and withdrew the “San of the first string” Akaza. Partly because of that impression, some questioned the casualties of the citizens in the Yukaku and the ability of Umeda to struggle with the lower “land of the first string” compared to Akaza. Let’s go. Also, by knowing the strength of the pillars fighting the higher-ranking “demon of the first string” in the last series, some people may think that “Umeda was weak” relatively. ..
However, if you look at the battle of Umeda that became clearer in the animation, you can see that Umeda can never be said to be “weak.”
Umeda’s sword technique quickly slashes the fallen princess.
“Yukaku no Oni” is the two bodies of his older brother, Taro, and his younger sister, Fallen Princess, and is in the position of “Land of the First String.” The true talent is Taro Yuu, but the power of the fallen princess is as strong as that of “Ichi of the lower string,” Yume. The lost princess faints her goodness with a single blow and can dodge Inosuke’s pursuit. Sumijiro’s “water breathing” technique alone is not enough to deal with the fallen princess.
However, Umeda quickly cut off the neck of such a fallen princess. Even with this one sword technique, you can see the ability as a “pillar.”
Self-evaluation of Umeda
When Umeda began to fight, it was clear to the viewer that his experience, combat power, command, and situational judgment were outstanding. However, when Yutaro Taro pointed out, “You’re different, it’s different from the pillars you’ve killed so far,” and “It’s the talent you’ve chosen.”
This country is so big, it’s fantastic, some aren’t familiar with it, and some hold a sword and become a pillar in February. Am I chosen? It’s not crazy (Tengen Umeda / Volume 10, Episode 87 “Gathering”)
In the conversation with the prostitute Taro, the first thing that Umeda came up with was Screaming, the strongest swordfighter in the active demon slaughter corps. And it is Toru Muichiro who works as a pillar at the young age of 14. Tokito wants the name of a genius, screaming with outstanding strength.
Ubuyasu muttered such a thing in his heart, remembering the painful past he grew up as a shinobi and the voice of Kagaya Ubuyashiki who saved him from it.
The damage caused by the citizens in the Yukaku and the feeling of poison over his body made Umeda’s feelings bearish for a moment. Still, Umeda shouted high in order not to let his opponent realize.
And Umeda’s excellent observing eyes accurately pointed out the enemy’s weaknesses, which also became a restraint against demons.
And the way to defeat Temee and others is to slash the neck at the same time that I have already found out. !! (Tengen Umeda / Volume 10, Episode 88 “How to Defeat”)
Characteristics of “sound breathing.”
The horror of “Yukaku Oni” is that it can attack a wide area. The attack of the fallen princess’s “obi” and the slashing from the blood sickle of the prostitute Taro mercilessly chop up the building and the citizens.
However, the characteristics of Umeda’s attack are utilized here. Kotaro freely manipulates two blood sickles, but Umeda is also dual wield. In addition, he can attack a wide area by detonating a particular gunpowder ball. Umeda’s sword was more suitable than the Japanese Nichirin sword to judge the “circular sword is turning/flying blood sickle” by Taro Kou. “Breathing of sound” Both the Kyozanmugen and Meigensousou are large-scale techniques with explosions, exploding gunpowder balls, and sun swords. The afterimage shines in the darkness of the night.
At the end of the battle, Umeda lost one arm, and Kanjiro was severely injured. At this point, Umeda’s original battle calculation formula “musical score” was completed, and the technique of the prostitute Taro was grasped.
The “musical score” has been completed! !! !! I’m going to win! !! !!(Taro Keio / Volume 11, Episode 93 “Never give up”)
The musical score is the ability that only Umeda has to understand all the habits and blind spots of the opponent by converting the attacking action of the enemy into “sound.” It takes time to analyze, but the battle becomes dramatically more advantageous once the score is completed. Umeda, whose musical score was input, thoroughly read through the attack of the prostitute Taro and added sharp slashes one after another.
“Common points” between Umeda and Purgatory
There are other reasons why such a strong Umeda is “weak.” This is the same as purgatory, but the point is that there are no “bruises” that prove to be the swordfighter of the chosen demon killer. In the 10th episode of the anime, the “bruises” appear in Sumijiro. These “bruises” will be an essential point in the latter half of the battle, which is centred on the demons of the first string.
Although details such as activation conditions are hidden, it is essential that these “bruises” emerge in the battle with Onimai Tsuji Miserable. So why didn’t “bruises” appear in Umeda and Purgatory?
“Aza” and Umeda, the swordfighters of the demon-killing
The 15th volume of the comic has the following conditions for “bruises.”
When one person with a bruise appears, the bruise also appears to those around him so that it resonates (Amane Mamiyashiki / Vol. 15, Episode 128 “Please teach”)
There is only one reason why “bruises” did not appear in Umeda and Purgatory. There was no “first bruise” at this point. The person destined to put out “bruises” first means Kanjiro. His change, the successor to “Hinokami Kagura,” was necessary for human beings’ “change of fate.”
It’s not that “bruises” didn’t come to mind because purgatory and Umeda were weak. It just didn’t meet the premise of activating “Aza.” It is probable that the conditions for “Aza,” which is the clue to the devastating defeat, have been met by the fact that these two “pillars,” Umeda and Purgatory, have saved their own lives and protected Kanjiro.
Sumijiro, who survived the Yukaku edition and whose forehead “bruises” became real, went through the swordsmith edition and entered the final battle. A boy’s life connected by strong “pillars” is the key to breaking the front line.
Umeda Tengen is not weak. He lost his left eye, even if poisoned all over his body, and even if his arm was cut off, he fought to the end and protected his junior swordfighters. The fact that Sumijiro and his colleagues “survived” may be proof of Umeda’s “strength.”
