The 5-member K-rock girl band ‘Rolling Quartz’ has successfully returned from their first overseas performance, ‘Otakon 2022 Friday Night Kpop Concert’.
Founded in 1994, Otacon is an annual convention held in summer to celebrate Asian pop culture and fandom. It was filled with time with fans, and Rolling Quartz performed a stage on the 29th local time.
Rolling Quartz, who sold out tickets even before departure, performed the American national anthem ‘Forever, Stars and Stripes, showing their skill in opening the door to the audience’s hearts. Throughout the performance, the powerful voice of vocalist Ja-Young and the members’ performances made the fans enthusiastic. At the end of the performance, the Taegeukgi and the Stars and Stripes were decorated, drawing a great response.
Rolling Quartz plans to communicate with fans through various festival stages, from the Wolpo Rock Festival on the 5th to the Jeonju Ultimate Music Festival (JUMF) and the Songdo Beer Festival on the 26th.
Meanwhile, Rolling Quartz, which debuted with the first single ‘Blaze’ on December 30, 2020, is composed of vocals Ja-young, guitar Airiwa Choi Hyun-Jung, basses Arum Arum, and drum Young-eun. Through communication with domestic and foreign fans, it was unusual in Korea, barren land of rock music, to reach 160,000 YouTube subscribers in just one year.
In addition, Rolling Quartz ranked 23rd on the World Wide iTunes Album Chart, 5th on the American Rock Album Chart, 30th on the European iTunes Album Chart, and 47th and 43rd on the UK and German iTunes charts, respectively, after the mini-album ‘Fighting’ was released in February. It became the first and only new record for a Korean indie band, taking first place on Malaysia’s iTunes K-Pop album chart and third on the overall album chart. It marked a milestone as a record that will remain in the history of Korean bands.
