‘Me,’ released at 1 pm the previous day, sold 876,249 copies in one day alone, according to Hanteo Chart. The agency explained, “This record is the highest sales volume ever among female solo albums in Korea.”
The title song ‘Flower’ of ‘Me’ has been ranked #1 on the iTunes’ Top Song’ chart in 60 countries, including the US. The music video for “Flower” has exceeded 41 million views on YouTube.
Influential foreign media outlets such as the US Billboard, UK Rolling Stone, and NME also covered the news of Jisoo’s solo debut with great importance. NME said, “‘Flower’ is a song containing elegance, creativity, modern elements, and traditional beauty. It is arguably one of the best K-pop songs of the year,” Billboard highly praised Jisoo’s vocal skills, saying, “Jisoo has truly blossomed. Sooner or later, it will equal the record the Black Pink members set.”
Meanwhile, BTS’ Jimin’s first solo album ‘FACE,’ released on the 24th of last month, sold 1,454,000 copies in the first week based on the Hanteo Chart by the 31st of the same month, achieving a new record for a K-pop solo singer. As a K-pop solo singer, it surpassed the 1.12 million copies of Lim Young-woong’s 1st album ‘IM HERO,’ which ranked first in sales in the first week of release.
This album sold 1,021,000 copies on the day of its release, setting a record of breaking the 1 million mark for the first time as a solo artist based on the Hanteo Chart.
