ABEMA, the new TV of the future, will broadcast the Japan Anime Trend Awards 2024, one of Japan’s most significant anime awards, on the Anime SPECIAL channel from 7 pm on December 26th. During the program, ABEMA will hold the Japan Anime Trend Awards Ceremony, where the winners will be announced in each category after rigorous screening based on data compiled by major media. The Opening Animation Award has now been decided to be the TV anime “Dandadan.”
The Japan Anime Trend Awards 2024 will look back on the trends of 2024 and also introduce the hot topics of 2025. Haraichi’s Iwai Yuuki will be the main MC, and Adachi Rika will be the sub-MC. Guests include Tenshinhan Dairo, Tokui Sora, Hamada Tatsuomi, and other anime-loving celebrities. The Opening Animation Award has now been decided to be the TV anime “Dandadan.”
The award went to the opening video set to Creepy Nuts’ “Otonoke.” The non-credit opening video, posted on YouTube, has been viewed over 13 million times in the two months since it was posted. R-Shitei’s lyrics, full of occult elements such as “Sada-chan Kaya-chan” and “4:44,” and the melody that rhymes with the work’s title, have become a hot topic.
The video, which is said to be inspired by Tsuburaya Productions’ special effects series, was highly praised and won the award for opening animation that combines topicality, musicality, and creativity.
Kamei Hiroshi ( Producer, Mainichi Broadcasting System): Thank you for choosing “Dandadan” for the Opening Animation Award.
The combination of Creepy Nuts’ wonderful music with the sense of Director Yamashiro and opening director Abel has created a one-of-a-kind video that feels both nostalgic and new. When you watch anime, I hope you will enjoy the opening every time. Please sing it at karaoke!
We look forward to your continued support of Dandadan.
