On the 27th, Bandai Namco Filmworks announced that the 7,453-character “love speech” by the main character Aijo Koitaro in the TV anime “100 Girlfriends Who Love You,” which the company is involved in producing, has been certified by the Guinness World Records as the “longest line in a Japanese anime.”
The subject of the record certification was Koitaro’s speech scene, which aired in the 24th episode of the TV anime (the final episode of the second season), and was officially certified on March 30 of this year. This speech is known to be a very popular scene among fans of the original work, as it shows Koitaro talking endlessly about what he loves about each of his girlfriends.
The production team explained that the record was achieved by “visualizing a scene that is popular with fans of the original work in a way that is unique to anime.” To commemorate the Guinness World Record certification, an award ceremony was held on June 25, and Wataru Kato, the voice actor who plays Aijo Koitaro, received the official certificate.
On October 18, a special event will feature cast members, as well as the world premiere of the uncut, normal-speed version of the certified 24th episode, “Love Speech.” “100 Girlfriends I Love You” (abbreviated as “100 Kanojo”) is an anime based on the romantic comedy manga of the same name by Nakamura Rikito (original author) and Nozawa Yukiko (illustrator).
Aijo Rentaro, who experienced 100 heartbreaks in middle school, is told by the god of love that “there are 100 people you are destined to meet in high school,” and “if you don’t love that person and find happiness with them, you will die.” The story depicts his hectic pure love harem life with the heroines. “Longest monologue in a Japanese language animation” Record certification date: Sunday, March 30, 2025 ©Nakamura Rikito, Nozawa Yukiko/Shueisha, I Love You Production Committee
