Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series is set in the Cosmic Era (CE), an era in which humans born with superior physical abilities and intelligence through genetic manipulation (Coordinators) exist, and humans born naturally (Naturals) exist, depicting the battle between Coordinators and Naturals.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, which depicts the events from CE71, was broadcast as a TV anime from 2002 to 2003, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY, which depicts the events from CE73, was broadcast as a TV anime from 2004 to 2005 and has since been developed in various media.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM is the latest in the series. It was released on January 26, 2024, about 20 years after CE75, as a theatrical version depicting a new story. It surpassed Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space (2.3 billion yen), released in 1982, and has the highest box office revenue of any Gundam theatrical release.
A limited-time special edition with over 500 cuts of updated footage is currently on sale. As of September 25, it has attracted 3 million viewers and grossed over 5 billion yen. The Black Knight Squadron Karla, the MS piloted by Orphee and Ingrid that appeared at the end of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM, has now been added to the Gunpla HG series.
The HG 1/144 Black Knight Squadron Karla has the SEED Action System, an internal structure specialized for recreating the impressive action poses from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED series. The gold engravings on the armor of the entire body are made of actual metallic gloss injection, a material that enhances the metallic luster.
The deployed state of the backpack can be recreated by using unique parts, and the wings of light can be recreated by attaching a PET sheet with a pattern printed on it, making this a large-volume specification.
