Gundsam’s ‘Gus’ advanced theatrical version will be screened in North America from February 28th! Distributed by GKIDS, which has distributed Studio Ghibli films

It has been announced that the theatrical pre-release version of the latest Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX (Zeke Axe), Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning—will be screened in North America from February 28th. It will be distributed by GKIDS, which produces unique animation works worldwide. The film will also be screened in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX is a new Gundam series created for the first time by Studio Khara, the studio behind the Evangelion series, and Sunrise (a production brand of Bandai Namco Filmworks), the studio behind the Gundam series. The series will be directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, who directed the 2021 Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time series, with series composition by Yoji Enokido and mechanical design by Ikuto Yamashita, and will be delivered by a star-studded staff.

The story begins when Amate Yuzuriha, a high school girl living peacefully in a space colony floating in space, meets Nyaan, a war refugee girl, and gets involved in the illegal mobile suit dueling competition Clan Battle. Calling herself Machu, Amate drives her GQuuuuuuX and throws herself into the days of fierce battles. At the same time, an unidentified mobile suit called Gundam, pursued by both the space military and the police, and its pilot, Shuuji, appear before her. And the world was about to enter a new era… and so it unfolded.

Mobile Suit Gundam qux -Beginning- is currently being shown as a theatrical advanced version in which some episodes have been reconstructed for theatrical screening. It has been decided that the theatrical advance version of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning- will be screened in North America from February 28th. It will be distributed by GKIDS, which distributes Studio Ghibli works in North America and delivers Japan’s representative animation works such as Mirai (directed by Mamoru Hosoda), Weathering with You (directed by Makoto Shinkai), and Inu-Oh (directed by Masaaki Yuasa) to the world. It has also been revealed that Medialink will screen the film in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, DEX in Thailand, and Sugoi Co in Australia and New Zealand. Attention will also be focused on overseas developments.

The theatrical advance version of the latest work in the Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX (Geaku Axe), Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning-, is currently being screened. It will be released in North America on February 28th. “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX” will be broadcast on the Nippon Television Network. Ahead of the TV series broadcast, “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning-” a reconstructed version of some episodes for theatrical release, will be screened in theaters nationwide from Friday, January 17th, 2025.
