It has been announced that a sequel to the sixth season of the anime “Kingdom” will be produced. Visuals of the mountain king, Yang Duanhe, and his right-hand man, Bajio, have also been released. Furthermore, a retrospective video of episodes 1 through 13 of the sixth season, which aired its final episode today, has been released. “Kingdom” is a TV anime adaptation of the wildly popular manga by Yasuhisa Hara, currently serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump. The original manga has sold over 120 million copies, and the fourth live-action film, “Kingdom: The Return of the Great General,” was released in 2024 and became a huge hit, grossing 8 billion yen.
The story is set in China during the Spring and Autumn Period and Warring States Period, and follows the exploits of Shin (voiced by Seiichi Morita), a young man striving to become the greatest general in the world, and Ei Sei (voiced by Jun Fukuyama ), a young king who would later become the First Emperor. It is a saga of the Chinese Warring States period.
The TV anime has been broadcast on NHK General TV for the past 3 seasons: Season 1 (NHK BS Premium, June 2012 to February 2013), Season 2 (June 2013 to March 2014), Season 3 (April to October 2021), Season 4 (April to October 2022), Season 5 (January to March 2024), and Season 6 (October to December 2025). It has now been announced that a sequel to the sixth season of the anime “Kingdom” will be produced. Images of Yang Duanhe and her right-hand man, Bajio, covered in blood and wounds, have been released. To unify China, the Qin state attempts to invade western Zhao from “Black Sheep Hill,” but is thwarted by Li Mu, one of the Three Great Generals of Zhao, and is forced to take the fortress of “Gyou,” near the Zhao mainland.
The Qin state then formed an allied army consisting of Wang Jian, Kanki, and Yang Duanhe. With Wang Ki’s spear in hand, the young generals Shin, Wang Ben, and Meng Tian also formed an independent mobile army, launching an all-out war between Qin and Zhao. The sixth season, which featured fierce battles with Zhao, concluded with the 13th episode, “The General’s View,” airing on Saturday, December 27th at 12:10 AM, to great acclaim.
A sequel to the sixth season of the anime “Kingdom” has already been announced. In the sequel, the battle with Zhao over Ye becomes even more intense, and the battle for pride between Yang Duanhe, King of the Mountains, and Rozo, King of the Dainrong tribe, becomes key to the story.
The “Death King of the Mountains,” Yang Duanhe, who commands the ferocious mountain people with his charismatic personality, and Rozo, the king of the descendants of the “Kuurong,” a foreign tribe that destroyed the Zhou Dynasty in Liaoyang, Zhao, will battle. Will the Qin Dynasty be able to take down the impenetrable fortress of Gyō? Stay tuned for the sequel, where their pride and wildness clash.
The official “Kingdom” anime YouTube channel has released two special videos looking back on the sixth season, which will begin airing in October. The special videos link to the worldviews of the two songs featured in the broadcast: the opening theme “Ikite, Sansan” by Ikimonogakari and the ending theme “Houkou” by Tomonari Sora.
Additionally, a Blu-ray and DVD box set of the “Kingdom” anime’s “Gyō Battle vs. the Zhao Allied Forces” arc has been announced. With the production of a sequel also confirmed, the anime “Kingdom” is gaining even more popularity, so keep an eye on it.
