It has been revealed that the comedian duo Kuuki Kaidan will appear in the film “LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE Immortal Bloodline,” which will be released nationwide on June 27, 2025.
This is the first completely new 2D animated film in about 30 years since “Lupin the Third: Dead or Alive.” The setting is a mysterious island that is not on the map. Awaiting Lupin and his friends as they board the island for treasure is an unknown entity called the “Immortal Bloodline.”
The story is depicted with unprecedented scale and drama, and the ultimate story that can be said to be the origin that connects all “Lupin the Third” begins. The original work is by Monkey Punch. The film is directed by Koike Takeshi, who has worked on all of the “Lupin the Third” series, which has been highly praised domestically and internationally for its stylish direction.
The screenplay is by Takahashi Yuya, and the music is by James Shimoji. The theme song has been decided to be a newly written song by B’z, “The IIIRD Eye.” The familiar cast, including Kanichi Kurita, Akio Otsuka, Daisuke Namikawa, Miyuki Sawashiro, and Koichi Yamadera, will be joined by Ainosuke Kataoka as Lupin’s greatest enemy, Muom, and Aoi Morikawa as the mysterious girl Sarifa. The “Unknown Lupin III” will finally appear on the big screen.
The role of the creepy “Garbage Man” who lives on an “island, not on the world map” in the Bermuda Sea area where Lupin and his gang set foot, will be played by Mogura Suzuki and Katamari Mizukawa of the comedy duo Kuuki Kaidan. Formed as a duo in 2012, they have a brilliant track record, including winning the 2021 “King of Conte” competition. In recent years, they have expanded their activities as voice actors, appearing together in the anime “Shinjigen! Crayon Shin-chan THE MOVIE: Superpower Great Battle -Tobetobe Temaki Sushi” (2023), and Mogura will also be dubbed “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” (2024).
The two, who have gained popularity for their outrageous skits with quirky characters and are showing off their outstanding expressiveness, will play a strange being that puts Lupin and his friends in an unprecedented predicament. Upon the decision to make a guest appearance as voice actors, the two expressed their joy. Mogura, who played Luuo, with a mechanical body exposed and an unusually long neck, said, “I never imagined for a second that I would be able to participate in Lupin III,” expressing his enthusiasm for participating in the Lupin world.
Meanwhile, Katamari, who played Fuua, who wears a suit and sunglasses and unleashes scorching power from his giant mechanized palm, said, “As MIZUKAWA THE BIRD, I opened my nostrils as wide as I could to record my voice,” expressing his determination to show a new side of himself as a voice actor. In addition, an interview video of the two of them looking back seriously (?) on the recording has also been released. Mogura, who plays the role of someone who confronts Lupin, spoke passionately, saying, “The sound director told me to just blow Lupin away with all my might!” revealing his extraordinary enthusiasm for the role.
Meanwhile, Katamari said, “Through various conversations with the sound director, I was able to discover a voice I didn’t know I had,” feeling a new possibility, and said, “If I’m invited to a lecture or something in the future, I’d like to invite the director again for guidance,” with a humorous yet straightforward look in his eyes.
Furthermore, when asked what special skill he would show if he joined Lupin’s team, Mogura immediately replied, “Imitating farts. I’ll use that to throw Zenigata off.” Katamari was not to be outdone and gave a bizarre answer showing his true talent as a comedian: “I can guess people’s blood types. When Lupin and his gang have free time, I’ll use this to liven up the team.”
These “garbage people” have human forms, but they exude a somewhat alien presence. Will Kuuki Kaidan be able to “steal” the audience’s hearts with their voice acting? Expectations are high for their unexpected side. New scene cuts that give a glimpse into the world of this work have also been released. The mysterious island will be revealed.
