Toei, which distributes “ONE PIECE FILM RED,” an animated film based on Eiichiro Oda’s famous manga, announced on the 25th that domestic box office revenue exceeded 10 billion yen. It was achieved in 20 days from the release on August 6, and the audience mobilized 7.2 million people.

It is the first time a Japanese movie has exceeded 10 billion yen in box office revenue since last year’s “Jujutsu Kaisen 0” (13.7 billion yen). Among foreign films, “Top Gun: His Maverick,” starring Tom Cruise, released in May this year, also grossed over 10 billion yen in Japan.

“ONE PIECE-” is the 15th work in the series, and the key to the story is the famous character Shanks and his daughter, world-famous singer Uta. The song in the play by singer Ado is also a big hit. Toei analyzed, ‘The excitement of the original, which celebrated its 25th anniversary, and the success of the song in the play are boosting the movie’s popularity.’
