It has been decided that Kureha’s novel “Oni no Hanayome” will be made into a TV anime. “Oni no Hanayome” is a Japanese-style Cinderella story set in Japan, where humans and ayakashi coexist. Yuzu, a lonely high school girl who grew up without the love of her family, meets the strongest ayakashi, the demon Reiya, and her fate begins to move. The comic version by Jun Togashi won the grand prize of the “Everyone’s Choice!! Digital Comic Awards 2023”, and the novel and manga have sold over 5.8 million copies in total.
Kureha commented, “This work, which started as a short story of about 20,000 characters, was published as a book, made into a comic, and finally made into an anime, thanks to the support of many people. Thank you very much.” Togashi said, “I’m excited to see how Yuzu, Reiya, and the little demons will be drawn, talk, and move…” and Shiratani Yu, who is in charge of the original illustrations, said, “I’m looking forward to seeing how my beloved Yuzu and Reiya, and the other charming characters, will be colored and move.” Celebratory illustrations of Togashi and Shiratani have also arrived.
The seventh volume of the comic was released today, June 10th. In the seventh volume, Reiya takes action to save Yuzu, who has been kidnapped by the onmyoji Tsumori.
