The latest from Saku Sakamoto, the animator of “Aragne’s Bug Cage” (CV: Kana Hanazawa), which was screened at the world’s highest “Annecy International Animated Film Festival” (France) as an “animation for theater produced by only one person.”
It was announced that the work “Amrita’s Feast” has been nominated for the Grand Competition Feature Film of the “Animafest Zagreb 2023” in Croatia.
Trailers have a history. In the past, Osamu Tezuka’s short film won the Grand Prix. In 2019, Sakamoto’s previous film, Aragne’s Bug Cage, was nominated for the feature film competition, marking the second consecutive achievement. Last year, “Princess of Dragons and Freckles” (directed by Mamoru Hosoda) and “Kita no Kita” (directed by Koji Yamamura) were nominated in the same category.
This year, it will be held from June 5 to 10th, and director Sakamoto will be on stage. The Grand Prix and other award winners will be announced on June 10, the festival’s final day.
Director Sakamoto said, “The Zagreb International Animated Film Festival is where many art animations I respect have won awards. I have a special feeling. I am truly honored to be able to participate. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for supporting me, and I ask that you continue to watch over me warmly in the future.”
