Shinsei Galverse is a next-generation anime project with a global community centered around creator Ayaka Ohira. It is an original anime that incorporates gal culture into nostalgic anime from the 90s and 00s, reconstructing it with modern values. Zero, a mysterious girl who has lost her memory, descends onto the war-torn planet “Amatera.”
Amid a fierce battle between the local resistance forces and the imperial army, “Gevura,” Zero meets Ring, a young leader who fights to save the world. As Zero’s memories awaken, she is confronted with her true self, not just a girl but a “Galverse.” In April 2022, the project raised funds for anime production thanks to support from over 4,000 fans.
The production adopts a unique style of sharing the production process with fans, attracting a lot of attention as an unprecedented “participatory anime” in which the community (fans) actively participates in everything from planet names to costume design and promotional measures. Under the direction of Ohira, the original author, general director, and character designer, Takamura Yuta will co-direct. Takahashi Natsuko and Okubo Masahiro will write the script, while Ishino Satoshi and Nagayama Momo will design the characters. Liu Yang (Ogura Kobo) will be the art director.
SoK and ARCH will produce the animation. This work combines a style reminiscent of 90s anime with sophisticated modern animation. In this official trailer, you can hear the ending song “KYOMEI VERSE” by ☆Taku Takahashi feat. KAMIYA, as well as character voices by a luxurious cast of voice actors, including Yui Horie, Mutsumi Tamura, Fairouz Ai, Kotono Mitsuishi, Ikue Otani, and Akio Otsuka. Anticipation is building for the main story.
