It has been announced that the TV anime ” Kijin Gentosho ” will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons on TOKYO MX, MBS, and BS Fuji starting March 31, 2025. The first episode will be a one-hour special. The first PV featuring all the main characters was also released along with the announcement. It was also revealed that Hilcrhyme will be in charge of the ending theme.

“Kijin Gentosho” is a Japanese-style epic fantasy based on a popular novel by Motoo Nakanishi. The year is 1840. In a world where people’s minds are in turmoil due to a great famine, demons have begun to take on human forms and playfully deceive people. Jinta and Suzune, a brother and sister who live in the village of Kadono, a mountain village far from the city of Edo, are outsiders who came to Kadono for a specific reason when they were young. Still, everyone accepts them and spends their days together in harmony.

In this village, there is a shrine maiden called “Itsukihime,” as Jinta grows up, he becomes her guardian. Then, one day, while Jinta is on a mission to defeat a demon in the forest, he encounters a mysterious demon that speaks of the distant future. As the shrine maiden’s guardian, Jinta is constantly on the brink of death. Suzune cheerfully sends her brother off despite her worries, and Byakuya is targeted by a demon while fulfilling his duties as the shrine maiden “Itsukihime.” When the gears of the three people’s destinies overlap and go haywire, a great disaster from Edo to Heisei will fall on humans, demons, and even eras for a long time. The story of a demon who travels through an incredible 170 years while constantly questioning the meaning of wielding a sword unfolds.

The first PV released this time begins with Jinta, Suzune, and Shirayuki as children. The story follows the residents of Kudzuno, who accept the strangers Jinta and Suzune as they grow up, with Jinta becoming a shrine maiden guardian who protects “Itsukihime.” Shirayuki becomes Byakuya, a shrine maiden who prays for the prosperity of Kudzuno. It is said that by eating the raw liver of a shrine maiden, one can attain immortality, and a demon targets Byakuya. Meanwhile, a two-horned, muscular demon and a distant vision demon woman with the power of farsightedness, who can see future scenes, appear. When the distant vision demon woman says, “There’s no doubt about it, that face is exactly as I saw it,” who is “that face” referring to? In the second half of the video, the ending theme “One Thousand and One Nights feat. Izumi Nakasone (HY),” sung by Hilcrhyme, is played to accompany the fleeting happiness of Jinta, Suzune, and Shirayuki (= Byakuya), as well as the three of them getting caught up in the long battle with the demons that they cannot avoid, and then standing up to them.

Hilcrhyme also commented, “This song was inspired by how Kijin Gentosho weaves feelings across time. My ally, Izumi Nakasone of HY, has teamed up with Hilcrhyme again. I hope it will reach many people across generations and distances.” The TV anime Kijin Gentosho will be broadcast on TOKYO MX, MBS, and BS Fuji for two consecutive seasons starting March 31, 2025.
