The Annie Award for ‘The Mitchells and the Machine Rebellion’ is the most eight crowns

The award ceremony for the 49th Annie Award, which is said to be the Academy Award for the anime world, was held on March 12 (local time), and the “Mitchells and Machines Rebellion” (Director Mike Rianda) is being distributed worldwide on Netflix. Won the highest number of eight crowns, including the Best Picture Award.

“The Mitchells and the Machine Rebellion” is a feature-length anime produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of “Spider-Man: Spider-Birth” and “LEGO (R) Movie”, produced by Sony Pictures Animation. A story that depicts the activities of an eccentric family who had to save the earth from the rebellion of the machine. Sony originally planned to distribute it, but due to the influence of the new coronavirus, it has sold the global distribution right to Netflix.

Annie Awards are selected by members of the Hollywood Chapter of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA). Of the 20 Oscars held since 2002, when the Academy Awards established the feature animation category, Annie Award-winning works have won 14 Academy Awards.

At this year’s Academy Awards, “The Mitchells and the Machine Rebellion” was nominated along with “Mirabelle and the Magical House,” “Luka That Summer,” “Raya and the Last Dragon,” and “FLEE Free,” but won the Annie Award. It may be said that we are one step closer to acquiring the Oscar statuette.
