by “Angel’s Egg 4K Remaster,” produced to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the film’s release, will be released exclusively at Dolby Cinemas starting Friday, November 14th, and will be available nationwide beginning Friday, November 21st. To commemorate this, a poster visual featuring an original illustration by Amano Yoshitaka and an interview video have arrived.

The newly released poster visual is based on a new illustration by Yoshitaka Amano, the film’s original creator and art director, and is the first in 40 years.
The film depicts the encounter between a girl guarding an egg and a boy searching for a bird. While previous illustrations have often focused on the girl, this visual boldly reinvents the work by placing the boy at the center. Furthermore, the background features the story’s iconic motifs of eggs and a fantastical cityscape, strikingly depicting the boy walking in a flowing cloak and carrying a cross on his shoulder. Amano’s meticulous and luxurious brushstrokes and colors further accentuate the mystical world of “Angel’s Egg.”
A rare interview video has also been released in which Amano discusses the background of the visual’s creation. Amano said, “It was the first time I’d ever drawn a boy so well,” revealing that he had a specific image of his age and character in mind as he worked.
