Starting on Sunday, March 2, the official free Macross series is available daily on Abema for a limited time. This will allow viewers to watch the four TV anime series “Super Dimension Fortress Macross,” “Macross 7,” “Macross F,” and “Macross Delta” for free.
The “Macross” series is a monumental work of science fiction anime that began with “Super Dimension Fortress Macross” in 1982 and has expanded into many series, mainly TV anime, OVAs, and movies. It gained popularity for its unique story development that sets it apart from other robot anime, depicting three elements: not only “mecha action” but also “songs” and “love triangles.”
The songs by the artists featured in the series also attracted much attention. In 1995 and 2017, albums by artists featured in the series won the Album Award in the Anime category at the Japan Gold Disc Awards.
ABEMA’s new official free Macross channel will broadcast all four anime series, “Super Dimension Fortress Macross,” “Macross 7,” “Macross F,” and “Macross Delta,” for free every day for about a month, starting at 1 a.m. on Sunday, March 2. In addition, catch-up episodes will be available for free streaming for one week after the broadcast.
To commemorate the channel’s launch, a unique program announcing new information about the “Macross” series, “Macross x Sunrise New Release Special,” will be broadcast free of charge from 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 2. Megumi Nakajima, who plays Ranka Lee in “Macross F,” and Minori Suzuki appear on the program.
In addition, from 7:45 p.m., a unique project will broadcast the opening and ending videos of all four TV anime series free of charge.
